Division 45 Logo
Benneke Gormam of Chinle, Arizona is the artist of the Division 45 logo. Dr. Teresa LaFromboise and Dr. Joseph Trimble commissioned him to design the logo after seeing the design work he had done for the cover of the American Indian Life Skills Development Curriculum.
In 2013, the members of Division 45 of the American Psychological Association, the Society for the Psychological Study of Ethnic Minority Issues voted for a Division Bylaws amendment to change its name to the Society for the Psychological Study of Culture, Ethnicity and Race.
This name change occurred in response to members displeasure with the use of the word “minorities” in the name. A vote occurred with Division 45 members, with over 80% of members voting to change the name and ultimately over half of voters chose the new name The Society for the Psychological Study of Culture, Ethnicity and Race.
