Division 45 Community Engagement Project Seattle, WA – August 8, 2024

The Executive Committee of Division 45 is excited to announce a community-based service project that will take place during this year’s American Psychological Association’s Annual Convention in Seattle, WA. We have partnered with Southwest Youth & Family Services of Seattle to present My Life Matters, an event focused on fostering positive racial identity among the youth of Seattle.

The event will include:

– A  positive racial identity painting session

– Small group experiential activities aimed at affirming racial identity.

– A parent panel providing tangible tools for promoting positive racial identity in children/adolescents.

12:00 – 3:00 PM
Location: Southwest Youth & Family Services Center

We are seeking volunteers for the following roles:

1. Facilitators for small group sessions with the youth.

2. Panelists for the parent panel.

3. Logistics support, including serving lunch, setting up the painting session, and other supportive tasks.
