The 5th BIENNIAL APA DIVISION 45 RESEARCH CONFERENCE

The fifth biennial American Psychological Association Division 45 Society for the Psychological Study of Culture, Ethnicity, and Race Research conference will be held July 19-21, 2018 at the University of Texas at Austin. The conference will feature outstanding plenary speakers and symposia on Friday, July 20th and Saturday, July 21th.  Professional development workshops and a policy pre-conference will be held on Thursday, July 19th.  We welcome proposals from individuals at all career stages, including undergraduate and graduate students, early career professionals, and mid- and late-career professionals.

 

CONFERENCE PROPOSALS

 

Acceptable proposals may address theory, research, practice, and training/education issues, as they relate to culture, race, and ethnicity.  All proposals will undergo masked peer-review with attention given to a balance of topics, diversity dimensions, emphasis areas, and applied aspects (e.g., psychological assessment and therapeutic interventions).

 

  • Symposia:
Symposium presentations include 3 to 4 talks on a common topic and a

discussant. Proposals should include a symposium title (10 words maximum), a summary

of the symposium theme (200 words maximum), as well as titles (10 words maximum)

and summaries (200 words maximum) of the expected contribution of each participant.

You will also be asked to identify 3-4 learning objectives, a list of 3-10 supporting

references, and the name, degree, title, affiliation, and contact information for all

presenters.

 

  • Interactive Discussions: 
In this format, two presenters will open a discussion on a topic

with brief remarks and facilitate an interactive discussion with the audience. Proposals

must include a title (10 words maximum) and summary (200 word maximum). You will

also be asked to identify 3-4 learning objectives, a list of 3-10 supporting references, and

the name, degree, title, affiliation, and contact information for all presenters.

 

  • 15-minute Paper Presentations: 
Individual proposals, including empirical reports, will be

submitted as 15 minute spoken presentations. Proposals must include a title (10 words

maximum) and summary (200 words maximum). You will also be asked to identify 1

learning objective, a list of 2-3 supporting references, and the name, degree, title,

affiliation, and contact information for all presenters.

 

  • Poster Presentations:
Individual proposals, including empirical reports, will be presented in

poster sessions. Proposals must include a title (10 words maximum) and a summary (200

words maximum). You will be asked to include all author names, titles, affiliations, and

contact information.
